apropos of nothing...

I like a wide variety of music, and there are many bands that can soothe my soul or move me to tears (Caamp is a recent one / favorite), but the Grateful Dead is my happy place.

This girl is fantastic. Her facial expressions alone are worth using one of your free NYT monthly views on. Pure joy.

Wow, Van Halen was my favorite band in junior high school (because of Eddie Van Halen). Cannot believe he's dead.

Tyler Childers on his new "Long Violent History" song:

"If we wouldn’t stand for it, why would we expect another group of Americans to stand for it?"

He's made a video, linked in the article, that explains his intentions with the song. It's worth watching.

"An ambitious student named Danny Scher booked the jazz great at Palo Alto High School in Northern California. A recording of the event gathered dust for five decades."

It's been awhile since I've listened to Listener, but I'm remembering how good it is. Worth checking out if you like music that borders on the spoken word.

"'Tough times never last': Ladysmith Black Mambazo brings an uplifting message to UCLA"

Ladysmith Black Mambazo played to a near empty theatre at UCLA because of the covid-19 crisis, *but* they captured the show for everyone on the Web to enjoy.

I've noticed several venues providing these sorts of remote viewing opportunities. It's nice to see (and hear). Long live the ! Music is so important to us, human beings.

Last.fm has a feature where you can select a musical "obsession". It gives you a chance to search for a track that has you enthralled and let's you set it in your profile as your current obsession. It doesn't work for me though. I just want to choose Caamp. All of Caamp. Not just a single song. Everything. Their music hits me on all levels.
